THE SANIBEL/CAPTIVA CONNECTION
Sanibel/Captiva Islands are barrier islands in the southwestern part of Florida and is connected to the mainland by a three-mile long causeway, hence the name, "The Sanibel/Captiva Connection." Famous for its extraordinary shelling, guests will awaken to beautiful sunrises over the the Gulf of Mexico and will have time to wander up and down the pristine white beaches to gather these beautiful little gems of natural art before the morning Yoga class.
While close to the mainland, Sanibel and Captiva feel remote and relaxing. More than half of Sanibel island, adjacent to Captiva, is preserved in its natural state as part of the J.N. "Ding" Darling Wildlife Refuge. This 5,000-acre sanctuary offers trails for hiking, biking, canoeing or kayaking. The "Ding" Darling houses more than 200 species of birds along with alligators, turtles, river otters and other wildlife.
