FRIPP ISLAND

Fripp Island, near the historic town of Beaufort, South Carolina, is one of the myriad of sea islands which run along the American coastline from the Carolinas to north Florida. Located in the romantic low country, these barrier islands are made up of savannahs and tidal marshes, interlacing inlets, salt water creeks, deep swamps and lovely pine forests. Gorgeous beaches and the beautiful waters of the Atlantic add to its diverse and welcoming landscape. Adjacent to Fripp Island is the beautiful wildlife preserve, Hunting Island State Park with its natural setting of lagoons, nature trails and pristine beaches. Adjacent to Hunting Island is photo of Karin in headstandSt. Helena Island. Once known for its famous cotton plantations and exquisite sea island cotton, St. Helena is home to the Gullah and to the historic Penn Center – one of our country's most important African-American educational and cultural institutions.

Guests of the Fripp Island Retreat stay in exquisite homes either directly on the warm waters of thephoto of participants in rocking chairs on veranda Atlantic Ocean or on the beautiful and serene salt marshes just minutes from the beach. Classes are held in a lovely room with large arched windows overlooking the ocean where the play of dolphins create an enchanting backdrop to the deep and strengthening power of the Iyengar Yoga asanas.

Each day consists of a morning Yoga class from 8:00 - 9:30 a.m. and an evening sunset class from 5:00 - 6:30 p.m. taught photo of flowersby Karin Stephan. Each class is followed by a delicious macrobiotic meal lovingly prepared by Alies van der Leeden from Holland, thirty five years macrobiotic chef and by her assistants. In addition to exploring the area, guests may partake in soothing massage therapies and ginger compresses offered by our staff. Optional evening discussions on the healing power of Yoga and food further enhance our guest's experience of health and wellness in our daily lives.
